Content Holders

Content Holders are used for displaying information within the Side Panel of your newsletter. We recommend populating content here that you need available to your community, but don’t necessarily want in the body of your newsletter. This can include information such as Term Dates, Upcoming Events, Office Hours, Important Information or Forms & Documents.

Adding a Content Holder

  1. Log in to your Control Centre and select the Content  tab.
  2. Once expanded, select Content Holders and click the New Content Holder button.
  3. Complete the Name and Title fields for your Content Holder.
Note: The Name field is what displays in the Control Centre. The Title field is what displays in the Newsletter.
  4. If you would like the Content Holder to appear on a specific day, you can select a Release Date. By default, the Release Date is set to the current date. You can also select an Expiry Date by unticking the 'Never' box and selecting the date that you would like the Content Holder to be removed from the newsletter.
Note: You can also temporarily disable a Content Holder by unticking the Status box.
  5. Apply the Newsletter tag. This will display the Content Holder in the Side Panel of your newsletter.
Note: If you would like the Content Holder to appear on other pages, such as your Archive or Subscribe Web Form, select the Page tag.
  6. Apply a Weighting to your Content Holder. You will need to apply a value greater than 10 for it to appear in the correct starting position. The higher the value, the further up the newsletter's Side Panel it will display.
  7. Add your content and apply any necessary styling using the toolbar menu. This includes inserting any hyperlinks, documents, or images.
  8. Once you have saved the Content Holder, you will be able to view it on your newsletter's Side Panel.

Handy Hints

  • Ensure that your images are no wider than 220px. You can resize your images to the correct size by using the Schoolzine Image Resizer.
  • We recommended not uploading files larger in size than 1 MB.
  • Clean your text to ensure that your content displays correctly and any hidden characters or symbols are removed. To clean your text, paste it into a program such as Notepad or Wordpad, then copy it from this program into your Content Holder.
  • We recommended using a call to action for any files or URLs that you include in your message to avoid your content being missed! eg. “Click here to download” or “Click here to view”.

Adding a Document

  • Upload the document by selecting the Content menu tab and going to Media Library.
Note: See the Media Library tutorial for more information.
  • Select the text you would like your document linked to. Click on the Link button and select Link to Document. Click on the search button next to Page URL to display all documents you have in your account, then select the document you would like to link.
