QR codes

KB_qrcodes.jpg

A QR Code or Quick Response Code is a version of a barcode used to store data and information via a redirect, most commonly to a Web Page or performing an action on your device such as opening YouTube to play a video.

The Schoolzine Control Centre now has the ability to create custom QR codes from within your admin system. This code can then be inserted onto your newsletter or email communications to point your community to information or resources.

To use a QR code, the user will scan the code with a ‘scanner’ app on your smartphone or tablet (with a camera). There are many free Apps for reading QR Codes available from both the Google Play Store and IOS App Store.

Creating a QR Code

The following will guide you through the process for creating a QR code for use in your outbound communications and newsletters. It is always recommended to test all QR code’s on your own device before sending to ensure that it is pointing to the correct location or file.

  1. Log into your Control Centre and select the Content menu tab
  2. Select the QR Codes tab
  3. Select New QR Code
  4. Paste in the full Website Address into the Absolute URL field.
  5. Select Save
  6. Click Download to save the QR code to your computer.

If you wish to then place a QR code in the content of a newsletter or email, we always recommend placing some information in the content to inform the community on the content that can be accessed by scanning the QR Code.

Editing a QR Code

  1. Log into your Control Centre and select the Content menu tab
  2. Select the QR Codes tab
  3. Select the URL of the code you would like to edit.
  4. Select Edit QR Code.
  5. Paste in the full Website Address into the Absolute URL field.
  6. Select Save to update your QR Code.

IMPORTANT: Editing the Website Address of your QR Code will not update the path of the prior code. You will need to replace the image of a prior code you have supplied to your community.

Deleting a QR Code

  1. Log into your Control Centre and select the Content menu tab
  2. Select the QR Codes tab
  3. Select the URL of the code you would like to delete.
  4. Select Delete QR Code and confirm the popup message

IMPORTANT: Deleting the Website Address of your QR Code will not remove the path of the prior code. You will need to replace the image of a prior code you have supplied to your community.

Quicker Navigation in the Control Centre is here:

The Control Centre is used by all Schoolzine Subscriptions. With so many features in one place, you told us manoeuvrability can be challenging. To solve this, we have built a new Control Centre experience that allows single click navigation to all commonly used items.

So what has changed?

  • Quick Send, Communicate and Manage SZapp are now at the top of the menu.
  • The Dashboard is accessible via the landing page or bread crumbing.
  • Submenus have been removed for all items except Content.
    * Contacts is its own menu item.
    * Groups is its own menu item.
    * Students is its own menu item (visible for certain subscriptions).
    * Streams is its own menu item.
    * Events is its own menu item.
  • Newsletters is a single click to either SZ built or DIY (based on your subscription).
  • Knowledge base and Support can be found in the top right.
