Schoolzine Website Agreement - Full License

We’ll always do our best to fulfil your needs and meet your expectations, but it’s important to have things written down so that we both know what’s what, who should do what and when, and what will happen if something goes wrong. In this contract you won’t find any complicated legal terms or long passages of unreadable text. We’ve no desire to trick you into signing something that you might later regret. What we do want is what’s best for both parties, now and in the future.

What do both parties agree to do?

You: You have the authority to enter into this contract on behalf of your school or your organisation. You’ll give us everything we need to complete the project as and when and in the format we need it. You’ll review our work, provide feedback and approval in a timely manner too. Deadlines work two ways, so you’ll also be bound by dates we set together. You also agree to stick to the payment schedule set out at the end of this contract.

Schoolzine: We have the experience and ability to do everything we’ve agreed with you and we’ll do it all in a professional and timely manner. We’ll endeavour to meet every deadline that’s set and on top of that we'll maintain the confidentiality of everything you give us.

Schoolzine will create for you a website based off the agreed Schoolzine+ Website template. Custom layout changes and integration of third party services and widgets to your site, may incur additional cost and will be billed at a rate of £50/hour (+VAT).

Website Design & Setup

Schoolzine will setup and populate content provided by you:

1. Depending on the package you have chosen, main system pages built by Schoolzine, plus;
             Hop 5 pages
             Skip 5 pages
             Jump 5 pages
2. Additional pages will be charged at £50/hour (+VAT).
3. Up to 5 rounds of content submission, 3 week turnaround time per round of submission.

Training, Technical support & Updates

Schoolzine will provide 2 hours of support per month for the first 6 months after completion of your website. This will be recorded in 15 minute increments. This can be used for training, website updates and technical support. Support hours do not roll over if unused.

Website content

Extra website pages can be produced by Schoolzine at £50/hour (+VAT). A basic webpage with text only, can be produced in around 15 minutes. An advanced webpage which includes pictures and other customised content would average around 1 hour to complete.

This agreement does not include any content writing service. Schoolzine can provide this service at £75/hour (+VAT).

Photographs

You should supply graphic files in an editable, vector digital format. You should supply photographs in a high-resolution digital format. If you’d like us to search for photographs for you, we can provide a separate estimate for that.

HTML, CSS and JavaScript

Our websites are developed from HTML5 Mark-up, CSS2.1 + 3 Style sheets for styling and unobtrusive JavaScript for feature detection, poly-fills and behaviours.

Desktop browser testing

We test our websites styles and functionality in current versions of major desktop browsers including:

1. Google Chrome (Mac and Windows)
2. Firefox (Mac and Windows)
3. Safari (Mac and Windows)
4. Internet Explorer 10 and above (Windows)

We won’t test in other desktop browsers unless specifically requested. If you need an enhanced design for an older browser, we can provide a separate estimate for that.

Mobile browser testing

Testing popular small-screen devices is essential in ensuring that a person’s experience of a design is appropriate to the capabilities of the device they’re using. We test our work on the following devices:

1. iPhone
2. Android
3. iPad

Testing on alternative devices can be provided as a separate estimate.

CMS Browser support

The website CMS is supported by all HTML 5 enabled browsers. These include Chrome, Firefox and IE10 and above. This means your old Internet Explorer Browsers won’t allow you to access the admin console to manage your content.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

Schoolzine will register your site to Google Search Console and submit the required information such an XML sitemap and robots.txt files. Any additional SEO will be charged at £50/hour (+VAT).

Legal Information

We can’t guarantee that our work will be error-free and so we can’t be liable to you or any third-party for damages, including lost profits, lost savings or other incidental, consequential or special damages, even if you’ve advised us of them. If any provision of this contract shall be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this contract and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.

Copyrights

First, you guarantee that all elements of text, images or other artwork you provide are either owned by your good selves, or that you have permission to use them. As your website will be built from our Schoolzine+ School website template, we retain ownership of the visual elements that we create for this project.

You own all elements of text, images and data you provide, unless someone else owns them. The website code is built to run on the Schoolzine+ CMS. Your monthly hosting fee covers the license to use our system, which is not transferrable. As the website is built to work on our servers, moving to another provider may render some pages unusable.

You will have ownership over your current website domain names. We love to show off our work and share what we’ve learned with other people, so we reserve the right to display and link to your project as part of our portfolio and to write about it on websites, in magazine articles and in books unless specifically advised not to.
